Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man - #90 James Washington

Now that we've run through all of the veterans, it's time to loop back and catch all the incoming freshmen and JC players that we missed...

Name: James Washington

Position: Linebacker

Year: Freshmen

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 225

Hometown: Winter Park, FL

High School: Winter Park

2011 Stats: As a junior, Washington had 58 tackles, 30 TFLs, 15 sacks and two forced fumbles. As senior, he probably did even better...

2012 Projections: Based on who we beat out for his services, there's a chance we could see Washington make an impact in some form this season. The Orange have a lot of quality veterans in the linebacker spot so it might be a special teams impact, but we'll take it.

How'd He Get Here?: The Orange apparently beat out some serious competition for Washington's services. He had 17 offers on the table, including South Carolina, West Virginia, Illinois, Pitt and Purdue and Cincinnati. Credit Greg Adkins, Tim Daost and Doug Marrone for getting this solid Florida talent to take his, uh, talents North.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Rivals said three stars, Scout said two stars and ESPN said three stars.

Money Quote: "I got to know the defensive coach and that was really good," Washington said of Coach Daost. "I talked to the head coach [Doug Marrone] and I looked up and researched the program . They really get after the QB and I really like that. They had the top 7 defense in the nation last year."

Links of Wonder: James is on Twitter and already enjoying his time in Syracuse.

What Does Marrone Think: No word from Marrone but Washington's high school coach is sold...

"He is absolutely the real deal," Brown said. "And he’s a great kid to be around. He wanted to get out of Florida, and this is a perfect situation for him. The coaches here love being around him, and the Syracuse coaches will, too."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Technically, he's James Washington, Jr. I leave it up to you if you want to call him Junior Washington.
