Donna Ditota is all over the King of Kings League this year. With so many Syracuse Orange players and recruits involved, it only makes sense. She checks in with a couple updates on the action.
(And why any of you schlubs who live in the Utica area aren't going to these games, I do not know...)
First up, the war between Rakeem Christmas and DaJuan Coleman commences. Round one goes to Coleman.
Coleman, the Jamesville-DeWitt High School product, manned the middle for JD’s Finest. Christmas, the SU sophomore, played center for Utica Select.
JD’s Finest cruised to an easy 79-51 victory, though Utica Select was without James Southerland, said to be home in downstate New York on Monday.
It was a rebound-fest for both, with 21 boards grabbed between the two of them.
Meanwhile, Christmas may be doing some solid recruiting on SU's behalf. Highly-coveted recruit Isaiah Briscoe is playing for Utica Select thanks to Rak. Considering the team includes Southerland and he spent Monday night playfully-jawing with Michael Carter-Williams, this recruit is clearly in good hands.
He told Donna that he has a list of about six schools and Syracuse is one of them. In May, Briscoe told Nation of Orange that while he wasn't a Syracuse "lean," they were among the schools recruiting him the hardest. He also visited SU on Monday.
