Syracuse Football: Get to Know Your Orange Man - #9 Ri'Shard Anderson

Top 10 here we come, baby.

Name: Ri'Shard Anderson

Position: CB

Year: RS Junior

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 189

Hometown: Miramar, FL

High School: American Heritage

2011 Stats: Ri'Shard played in eleven games, starting six of them. He registered 22 total tackles, fifteen of which were unassisted. He also had two fumble recoveries. He's probably best know for hooking up with Dyshawn Davis on this 66-yard fumble return.

2012 Projections: He's slated as one of the starting CBs after spring practice. He and Keon Lyn are the veterans of the group so the job is his to lose. It's hard to get a feel for Ri'Shard's true potential. He barely played as a freshman and missed all of his sophomore year with a shoulder injury, so the 2011 season is really the only thing to go on. You'd like to see an interception or two, but so long as he's not getting burned deep, I'm good. He's long and has some wheels, so perhaps 2012 will be a breakout year for him.

How's He Get Here?: Ri'Shard originally committed to Wake Forest, then pulled the old switcheroo and headed up north to the 'Cuse, bypassing Rutgers, Northern Illinois and Vanderbilt along the way.

What Did Scout/Rivals Say?: Two and three respectively, though each service ranked him at a different position. He was rated by Scout as the #136 safety and by Rivals as the #70 CB.

Money Quote: On what it was like sitting out a year due to injury:

Last year made me mentally tough. Because when my hand got hurt this year, it was like ‘I don’t care what you all are doing, what you all have to do, but I’m going to play.’ That’s why I’m out here playing now.

Links of Wonder: All the Ri'Shard Anderson news that's fit to print (according to syracuse.com)

What Does Marrone Think?: HCDM on Ri'Shard splitting time last season with fellow Floridian Keon Lyn:

Either Ri’Shard or Keondrick Lyn can start. The thing I like about them is they’re playing against very good competition. We’ve been playing against some Biletnikoff (Award)-type receivers.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: His father's name is Richard. I guess they liked Ri'Shard better than Junior.

Let's Get a Good Look Atchya: One more time, just for sh*ts and giggles.
