The path of the righteous defensive tackle is beset on all sides by the inequities of the offensive line and the tyranny of evil quarterbacks. Blessed is he who, in the name of backfield tackles for loss and good will, shepherds the linebackers through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his nose tackle's keeper and the finder of lost safeties . And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to score on or pass block My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee. - Isaiah 44:44
John Garcia Jr is reporting that Eastern Christian Academy DT Isaiah Johnson committed today to play football for the Syracuse Orange in 2013. Garcia also says that Johnson, who has family in Buffalo, chose the Orange over offers from Wake Forest, Temple, UMass and Hawaii amongst others. Rivals says Marist also offered him, so TAKE THAT MARIST.
Rivals gave him two stars while Scout has yet to rate him. Can we just assume two stars and move on? Sure.
Johnson clocks in at 6'5" and 272 pounds. He's considered lean, which means he's got some time to bulk up before he steps onto a defensive line with a couple 300+ fellas. Read more about the powerhouse in the making.
You can apparently thank Jerome Smith for help in the recruiting department. The two are friends, though Johnson has some work to do on his Twitter handle.
That Academy is apparently a pretty solid football factory with another player heading to USC, one to Auburn and one more going to UConn.
