Name: John Kinder
Position: QB
Year: RS Sophomore
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 181
Hometown: Inwood, NY
High School: Lawrence
2011 Stats: Kinder has yet to take a snap in live action.
2012 Projections: Just like last year, Kinder is listed as the third string QB. Given his obvious talents as a runner, though, it's reasonable to think that he has a better chance of seeing the field than first backup Charley Loeb if Syracuse intends to use more wildcat and/or zone read action.
How'd He Get Here?: The 2009 Class A New York Player of the Year, Kinder was a manimal among boys during his high school career. He finished his career with over 3,000 yards passing and 22 touchdowns. Oh, and then he added 2,000 more yards and 88 TD on the ground. He's a Long Island kid, so you can bet the Marrone factor was a big one there. Syracuse was the first to offer Kinder a scholly, so he passed on Rutgers, Temple and UConn (and, presumably, Akron).
What Did Scout/Rivals Say?: Both rated him with three stars. The NYS player of the year...a three star recruit.
Money Quote: On his role as the scout team QB:
"You know we play some pretty good quarterbacks, so it’s fun to step into their shoes and run their offense, and help our defense out."
Links of Wonder: In true SU fashion, Kinder is already a television personality.
What Does Marrone Think?: On Kinder's work during 2012 spring practice:
...John Kinder is playing better than he ever has for us.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Also played lacrosse in high school (sorry, that's all I've got).
Let's Get a Good Look Atchya: Kinder goes back to kindergarten:
