Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man - #50 Femi Aliyu

Regulating closed practices is Femi's specialty.

Want to know more about Syracuse Orange football players? Good.

Name: Femi Aliyu

Position: Linebacker

Year: Junior

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 215 pounds

Hometown: Baldwin, NY

High School: Baldwin

2011 Stats: N/A.

2012 Projections: Aliyu is a walk-on, but given the injury trouble for Syracuse, you can never say never when it comes to a player coming from nowhere to make a splash. Having said that, Femi would need a few more bodies to go down before he gets called into action for any substantial length of time.

How'd He Get Here?: Much like other walk-ons playing D1 football, Aliyu has some talent. He didn't earn any major pub in high school, but prior to joining the Orange, Aliyu earned honors for his play prior to college. Aliyu never missed a game in four high school seasons and was named to the Nassau County All-Star team his senior year.

Scout/Rivals Said: Nothing. They said nothing.

Money Quote: I can't seem to find Aliyu's Twitter feed online anymore, so here's a quote Dan lifted from it for last year's GTKYOM on Femi:

"Like mike tyson and robin givens, the strongest man can be brought down by an evil woman....(but i think u sweeter than sweet)"

Links of Wonder: Remember spring practices for the team this past April? No? Oh yeah, of course you don't, because no one was allowed in! But, Sean actually gave us what he thought was happening in those closed off practices and Femi got a little love in a real post about a fake practice.

What Does Doug Marrone Think?: Doug's mom says coach loves all his players equally.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Femi lettered in basketball and lacrosse in high school.

Let Me Get a Good Look At You: I typed in 'Baldwin High School, NY Football' into Youtube and got the following video. It has nothing to do with Femi's Alma mater, but it does rate off the charts for unintentional comedy. So enjoy!
