Yep, it's that time again. Last year we counted down every SU football player from Chandler Jones (#99) to Phil Thomas (#1), as you can see here. Well both of those guys (and a few more in between) are gone and it's time to profile the entire 2012 Syracuse Orange football roster starting with the highest number and working out way down. Let's get to it...

Player: Robert Welsh

Number: #92

Position: Nose Tackle

Year: Junior

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 260

Hometown: Bay Shore, NY

High School: St. Anthony's

2011 Stats: Games played- 10, accumulated no stats.

2012 Projections: Welsh was a third string DT last season. After spending 2011 blocking for the place kicking unit and with Chandler Jones gone in the first round of the NFL draft, look for Welsh to crack the D-line rotation come fall.

How'd He Get Here: After a solid career playing football and basketball at St. Anthony's, Welsh chose the orange helmets over offers from New Hampshire and Wayne Chrebet University (AKA Hofstra).

What did Scout/Rivals Say?: Scout gave him 3 stars, Rivals only saw fit to award 2.

Money Quote: "Coach Marrone told me they're going to put me wherever the team needs me" . Good to see a versatile guy who's willing to do whatever it takes to contribute.

What Does Marrone Think?: Nothing that's been quoted, but HCDM did take a personal interest in Welsh's recruitment. It could be what pushed the big man toward the Orange early instead of waiting for other offers.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Played a bit of TE during his senior year of high school in addition to his defensive end duties. Wore #69 for the Orange last season.
