Syracuse Daily Links - Rochester Practice Highly Anticipated

Eyes will be on the quarterbacks when Syracuse University visits Rochester on Saturday |
I'm guessing that a lot of Syracuse-area fans will make the 90-minute trip to downtown Rochester. Beside the fact that no one's had a good look at the Orange so far, the weather is supposed to be sunny and near 60 degrees - a far cry from the 24 degrees and biting winds that limited last year's attendance to several hundred hearty fans. Parking and admission are free.

The Bud and Brent Show: Dave Rahme talks Syracuse lacrosse, football |
It's the Bud and Brent Show ... without Bud. Post-Standard sports reporter Dave Rahme sits in for Bud Poliquin and offers his thoughts on Syracuse football and lacrosse. Why has the Syracuse lacrosse team struggled so far this season? Can the Orange make a run this season? Why has Doug Marrone closed off spring football practice? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? What are the expectations for the fall's football team?

Lots of Pulp: High Top Hysteria - April 5
Oh, snap. It's Nerlens's Birthday the day before he declares? April 10? You know what that means. Nerlens has invited coaches from Syracuse, Kentucky, and one nerd from Georgetown whose mother insisted he must be allowed to attend, to his birthday party.

Voice of the Syracuse fan, Apr. 03 — Syracuse’s spring practices | The Juice Online
If the team held open practice in Syracuse, it would put added pressure on the team to play well. With added pressure comes mistakes both on an off the field. This team needs all the help it can get right now and I think Coach Marrone is smart to limit the exposure this team receives. Less distraction the better.

Pass or Fail? The Fizz’s Midterm Grades for SU Lax & Tournament Prediction : Orange Fizz
As it stands, SU’s chances of even making the NCAA’s is up in the air. Tough games left on the schedule will be away at Cornell, home against Georgetown and at Notre Dame. Syracuse should be able to escape the Big East tournament unscathed, but the NCAA’s will be imposing.

Syracuse University lacrosse attackman Tim Desko gives a pound of flesh for a chance to score |
"I’ve always been physical," he said. "I’m not the fastest guy, and I’m not the slowest guy. But part of my game is bumping into people and stuff and trying to get through to the goal."

Hate Kentucky’s Title? Beware, Nerlens Noel Would Be the Same for Syracuse : Orange Fizz
On Wedneday, top recruit Noel will choose between the Orange, the Wildcats and Georgetown. If he pulls a Carmelo (and not a Fab Melo), steps on campus to help push a young Syracuse team to the Final Four a year from now then bolts for the pro riches, you won’t hear many Central New Yorkers complaining.

Streaking Princeton heads to Dome to play Syracuse | The Juice Online
Princeton boasts a defense that has allowed double digit goals just once this season (a 10-8 loss to Johns Hopkins on March 2). The Tiger defense is led by Chad Wiedmaier, who is well on his way to becoming the first player in Princeton history to be a four-time First Team All Ivy League selection.

Former Syracuse University football star Jameel McClain signs three-year deal with Baltimore Ravens |
McClain, who is entering his fifth NFL season, started all 16 games for the Ravens in 2011 and recorded 81 tackles, one sack, five passes defended and two fumble recoveries, including one for a six-yard touchdown return.

SU Newshouse wants to see what you think a new hypothetical SU logo of the future should look like and want to see your designs.

Otto the Orange normally gets a new costume every couple years to offset wear and tear, but as CitrusTV's Lorne Fultonberg reports, this year's costume has a prominent new feature.
