Yep, it's that time again. Last year we counted down every SU football player from Chandler Jones (#99) to Phil Thomas (#1), as you can see here. Well both of those guys (and a few more in between) are gone and it's time to profile the entire 2012 Syracuse Orange football roster starting with the highest number and working out way down. Let's get to it...

Player: Macauley Hill

Number: #97

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6'0"

Weight:198

Hometown: Port Huron

High School: Port Huron Northern

2011 Stats: DNP, redshirted.

2012 Projections: Unfortunately, Hill's season is over before it started. He tore his ACL during the Rochester practice while diving to make a catch.

"It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through," he said. "It’s hard because of all of the hard work you put in, and I’m going to be out for the whole season."

How'd He Get Here: Hill had a scholarship to D-2 Northwood University, but decided to give D-1 a shot instead. A lifelong Syracuse fan, Hill jumped at the chance to walk-on at SU when it was offered and he has the chance to earn a scholarship at some point.

What did Scout/Rivals Say?:Not much.

Money Quote:"I always wanted to play for Syracuse and once the option became available recently I jumped at it...It's amazing and I'm excited for the challenging opportunity ahead."

What Does Marrone Think?: Nothing on record but I'm sure he's bummed for the injured second-year player.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Hill initially started playing football as the kicker for Port Huron Northern in his sophomore year before transitioning to running back as a junior before shifting to wide receiver as a senior, where he scored 13 touchdowns.
