Hey guys and gals, I wanted to rap to you in a language you can easily understand.
You know what's whack? Doing drugs. Stay clean, you guys. Word to your mothers.
Also, I wanted to talk to you about Nerlens Noel and the possibility that he might become a member of the Syracuse Orange.
I've noticed that a lot of folks have taken it upon themselves to create hashtags and tweet things to Nerlens about why he should choose SU over Kentucky or Georgetown.
Now, I've got no problem with that. I love the idea that, when asked why he chose Syracuse, if it was the facilities or the tradition or the coaching staff, Noel might say, "because of their Twitter hashtag." Seems likely.
But here's the thing. I've also noticed that some people are trying to get current SU players involved in the process. Asking them to retweet these messages and whatnot. And I have to say...DON'T DO THAT.
That's skirting the line on NCAA violations like this or like this a little too closely for my liking. And to be honest, since you're wearing a Syracuse shirt in your avatar and your profile says you graduated from SU, you're already committing an NCAA violation to begin with by "recruiting" Noel or anyone else.
I'm not saying the NCAA will ban Syracuse from the recruitment process if they discover that you are tweeting Nerlens directly, but, we don't exactly need any more basketball-related drama right now, you know?
(And I don't want to hear "Well, Kentucky does it." What are you, five years-old? Of course Kentucky does it. That's why that national title will cease to exist in about three years. You want that?)
As for Mr. Noel and his potential Cuse-ness, there's no harm in conjecture so long as you remember it's conjecture. That tweet about Fab Melo yesterday? It's a good sign...but then again is it really a sign at all? How do you know he's not going to tweet about Anthony Davis the same way in a couple days? Clearly, Nerlens is waiting for everyone currently on those teams to show their cards before he shows his. Smart way to play.
So whether you're glass half-full or glass half-empty, just keep your glass away from Scoop, MC Dubz and the rest of the team. Thanks, yo.
