Former Syracuse Orange punter Rob Long passed along some info about the 2012 Race for Hope, which he'll be running in on Sunday, May 6. He's reaching out to Syracuse fans to help him defeat brain cancer by raising money for the run.
Here's Rob's page (click Donate to Robert) and his message is below:
As you know I was diagnosed with brain cancer in December of 2010. With the support of all my friends and family and some great work by my doctors and I was able to persevere. Much of me being able to live my life today is derived from all the hard work doing research and fundraising by amazing people. I want to continue that tradition of giving back by raising money and raising hope. Please help me help those who will cross paths with this awful disease and they can live their lives happily with there friends and family as I have been able to do. Any and all donations help no matter how small.
I am continuing my quest to play in the NFL and have been training and working very hard to attain that goal. I will keep you all updated on my progress!
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
