On April 26, 1916, the Syracuse Orangemen and Hobart Statesmen did battle on a lacrosse field for the first time. The 98th time they'll go at it takes place tonight when the now-Syracuse Orange visit Hobart for a 7:00 p.m. showdown.

Named for legendary Orange head coach Roy Simmons Sr. and Hobart legend Babe Kraus, the Kraus-Simmons trophy has been presented to the winner in this annual showdown every year since 1986. That's usually been Syracuse, except for 1986 and 2006.

Hobart may have won that first match in 1916 (9-1) but the Orange have won the war. SU holds a 70-25-2 advantage and has won five-straight, including a 13-7 win in the Dome last year. Despite this being a down year, they should be able to keep the streak going for another year.

College Crosse has some more info (and tax humor) on the night's lacrosse action or feel free to stick around here and leave your pre-, in- and post-game comments below.

G'ORANGE!
