There was a time not too long ago when the news that the Syracuse Orange defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a lacrosse game of 19-6 wouldn't even warrant a reaction.

These days? It's CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION!!!

As part of the ESPNU Warrior Classic, the Orange dominated the Knights at American Legion Memorial Field in Charlotte, NC on Saturday. The win improved their record to 6-5 and gave SU it's best offensive performance of the year.

Sophomore attackman Derek Maltz scored a career-high four goals, and senior Tommy Palasek scored five points for the third time in four games. Each accomplished the feat by midway through the second quarter, as SU (6-5, 3-1) went into the locker room at halftime with 13 goals, more than it had scored in any entire game all season.

A 12-goal run erased an early 2-1 Rutgers lead and had Syracuse reserves in by midway through the second quarter – a nice perk considering the Orange is in the midst of playing five games in 15 days.

Big East teams will think twice about playing SU in ACC country from now on.

The Orange even dominated from the X and scored multiple goals on the man-up, making this an appearance by the bizarro 2012 Orange squad.

Syracuse head to Hobart.on Tuesday for their next game as they look to build on the momentum and get away from all this .500 business.
