This Day in 'Cuse History - March 8, 2006

Let's travel back to the start of one of the best Big East Tournaments in Syracuse Orange history. On this day six years ago, Syracuse beat the Cincinnati Bearcats, 74-73.

The Orange were led by senior Gerry McNamara(of course!) with 17 points, including the game winner. G-Mac also added 9 assists and 3 steals. Terrence Roberts had 16 points and 9 boards. Darryl Watkins finished with 15 points, 7 boards, and 4 blocks. Eric Devendorf scored 12 and Demetris Nichols finished with 10.

Louis McCroskey came off the bench with 4 points while Matt Gorman, Josh Wright, and Arinze Onuaku came in for a total of 8 minutes and scored zero points.

The Bearcats were led by James White with 32 points.

Syracuse improved to 20-11 and would face UConn in the second round on their way to the Big East Championship.

The memories of this game and the entire 2006 BET will live forever. And thankfully so will this press conference!

It's all about the Orange!
