Syracuse Football: Facilities Upgrade On The Way?

The Syracuse Orange football team kicked off practice Tuesday, though it will be a while before we get into the nitty-gritty and media are allowed to attend.

In the meantime, we'll have to make due with positive tweets and this interesting nugget from Orange Fizz, who spoke with DOC Gross about impending upgrades to the football facilities, which is extremely-necessary.

"We are very aggressive with football right now and fund raising for a football facility. We’ve got some things that are going to be in motion very very soon. We recognize the need to – not so much an arms race – but a needs race of what we need right now."

Fizz mentions that Gross envisions a Melo Center for the football program to call its own (The McNabb Center?). With the move to the ACC where we'll be going head to head with the likes of Florida State, Clemson and Virginia Tech, it's long overdue.

From what we've seen in past comparisons, Syracuse's facilities barely measure up to other Big East schools, let alone ACC ones.

Of course, it also begs the question...wither Manley Field House? The practice-facility-turned-basketball-arena-turned-practice-facility might not have much of a reason to exist once there's a new football facility. Is it almost time to pour some out for the Manley Zoo?
