Following a frustrating 11-7 loss to Johns Hopkins, the Syracuse Orange lacrosse team tumbled about as much as a program like Syracuse can tumble in the lacrosse rankings after losing to the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation. Which isn't all that far.

In the Media Poll, the Orange are No. 8 in the nation. Virginia, Hopkins, Cornell, UMass and Loyola and your top five.

Over the in Coaches Poll, the Orange drop to No. 9 overall. It's Virginia, Hopkins, UMass, Cornell and Loyola in their top five.

Over at College Crosse, Matt has used a whole collection of lacrosse polls and rankings to create an Acrosse The Lacrosse Polls Poll. In that, it looks like the pollsters are being generous to the Orange who come in 13th. Virginia and UMass are actually your co-leaders at the moment, followed by Hopkins, Maryland and Loyola.

The season is looking to be exactly what we were afraid it might be for the Orange. Not so much a rebuilding year but a step-back year where the Orange really need to fight and scratch to maintain their spot among the bigwigs.

It looks like Tim Desko will be find after getting some bad leg cramps during the JHU game. Fluid, Tim. Drink'm.

Up next for 3-2 SU is Providence, who is 1-3 on the season and should provide a reprieve for an Orange squad that needs a confidence-building win. Then again, the St. John's game was supposed to be like that as well. The game takes place Wednesday at 7pm in the Dome.
