As expected, the Syracuse Orange are the No. 1 seed in the East Region of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. And as many predicted, they will take on the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs in the first round in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
The Bulldogs are 24-9 and won the Big South Conference this year. We actually have a few common opponents with them. NC State beat them by 9 and UConn beat them by 10. Asheville made the tournament last year as well, beaten by Pitt in the first round.
The winner of that game will advanced to take on the winner of the Kansas State Wildcats vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles in the third round.
Other seeds in the East include the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 3 Florida St. Seminoles, No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers and No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores. Some of the notable low seeds include the No. 6 Cincinnati Bearcats, No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers and No. 12 Harvard Crimson. (Full bracket here)
The other No. 1 seeds are the Kentucky Wildcats (South), Michigan St. Spartans (West) and North Carolina Tar Heels (Midwest). Syracuse is the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.
So, how do you feel about the East? Seems like a good bracket to me...
