The Syracuse Orange and West Virginia Mountaineers will not be playing for the Schwartzwalder Trophy. At this point, the issue is over. I remain adamant that it's a wussy move by Syracuse and if the roles were reversed, we'd be pissed off, but, whatever. Nothing we can do about it now. SU and WVU kowtowed to the Pinstripe Bowl in turning the Steinbrenner Trophy into a thing and, here we are.
The Pinstripe Bowl and SU folks realize they have to do a little PR here to make the Steinbrenner Trophy appear important and of value. So, they're shopping the hardware around Syracuse today and giving you a chance to see it up close and person and say, "Oh...that's it, huh? That's nice. Can we go get Sbarros now?"
Here's where you can see it for yourself...
Friday, December 7th:
8 a.m. – Tops Grocery Store on Nottingham Road in Syracuse
11:30 a.m. – Schine Student Center
5 p.m. - Red Robin Restaurant in Fayetteville, N.Y.
Saturday, December 8th:
9 a.m. - Dunkin Donuts (Location TBD)
10:30 a.m. - Clinton Square Ice Skating Rink (Weather permitting)
12 p.m. –SU women's basketball game vs. Loyola at the Carrier Dome
3:30 p.m. – Varsity Pizza
7 p.m. - SU men's basketball game vs. Monmouth at the Carrier Dome
First one of you to send me a photo of you with the Steinbrenner Trophy wins a special prize (seriously...). Just no photos of you doing the "pointing at the thing you're taking a photo with," like above. That's the "pointing in your team's direction of play while waiting for a fumble to be resolved" of picture-taking.
