Austin Wilson: The "Other" 2013 Syracuse Quarterback Recruit

You guys are all Zach Allen this and Zach Allen that. But I never hear any of you say Austin Wilson this or that. Maybe you should, guys. MAY. BE. YOU. SHOULD.

Allen and Wilson will be the two new guys in the Syracuse Orange football quarterback rotation next season. While the odds are against either starting so soon, most SU fans expect to see Allen installed as Ryan Nassib's heir apparent sooner or later. And no one seems to have any such expectations for the "other" 2013 QB.

Except for him. Nolan Weidner spoke with Wilson recently and here's what he had to say...

I’m just looking to come in and have the same chances as everybody else. It’s an open competition. Nobody has really taken that many snaps. Whatever happens happens. I don’t really know what to expect right now.

As for his relationship with Elite 11 QB Zach Allen...

It was nice to finally get to meet him. Ever since we committed we would text each other about each Friday’s game. We stay in touch. I think we’re going to be good friends and it will be fun competing with him. I think we both understand what circumstances we’re coming into, and that we’re both going to be competing hard – and whatever happens, happens. But we’re going to stay close friends through it all.
