The Syracuse Orange beat the Canisius Golden Griffins 85-61 on Saturday night to move to 9-0 as Jim Boeheim inched closer to a historical high mark with his 899th win.
You were expecting something different?
James Southerland led the Orange with 21 points, but SU spread the scoring wealth. Brandon Triche scored 19 points and Rakeem Christmas contributed 10. Michael Carter-Williams, playing his first game since The Post-Standard reported he had been caught shoplifting at Destiny USA, assumed his usual spot in the starting lineup. Carter-Williams achieved a double-double vs. the Griffs, scoring 12 points and assisting on 14 Syracuse baskets.
Syracuse put a shaky first half behind them with a 11-0 scoring run that covered the end of the first and beginning of the second to cruise to victory.
The big fireworks were expected after the game when Jim Boeheim was sure to talk about the Michael Carter-Williams shoplifting allegations. As usual, Jimmy B put everything in check:
JB on MCW: "There's nothing to be said". It's over, "It's been over". "Syracuse police has found nothing to investigate.

JB: I hope nobody will think that I'll take an anonymous source and take action on that.

JB: Part of college is learning and making mistakes. It is what it is. We have to be prepared for that.

JB: The store is satisfied, Michael is satisfied, so I'm satisfied (paraphrasing).
