Another day, another JUCO verbal commitment for the Syracuse Orange football team. We already got a defensive lineman and a defensive back so it's only fair that we now get a linebacker. Enter Butler Community College LB Josh Kirkland.
The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Kirkland said he settled on the Orange last weekend after an official visit to Syracuse, N.Y. His pledges gives Syracuse 13 for its 2013 class.
"It’s a small-town kid going big time," Kirkland said.
ESPN says that the clincher was a visit from Doug Marrone himself to the tiny town of Paxico, KS.
Kirkland visited Syracuse last weekend and rated it a 9 out of 10 according to ESPN:
"It was pretty amazing," Kirkland said of the visit. "Compared to Kansas, it’s quite a bit different. I had a great time, and it’s a great school."
Supposedly Houston and Texas State were in the hunt as well. Check out some highlights of the LB here and wait for tomorrow's JUCO commitment.
