Don't forget to head over to All Star Sports Cards and make a game prediction. The winning prediction will get a TNIAAM t-shirt. And while you're there, make sure you mention TNIAAM during any purchase and you'll get 10% off!
On Saturday, the Syracuse Orange take on the Canisius Griffins. Assuming they win that game, Jim Boeheim will enter the December 17th game against the Detroit Titans with 899 all-time victories.
The game was orginally scheduled to air on ESPNU but, wisely, it's now going to air on ESPN2.
Assuming Syracuse does what it's supposed to do, they'll head into their Madison Square Garden showdown with Temple looking for Boeheim's 901st win. I highly-doubt the Gotham Classic folks planned it this way but it sure worked out great for their PR team.
The Temple game is also scheduled for ESPN2.
Once he hits 900, Boeheim will join the exclusive club of Coaches With 900 Division 1 Victories. Currently, only Bobby Knight (902) and Mike Krzyzewski (935) are there. With Jim Calhoun now retired, no active head coach is even close. Bob Huggins is actually next at 710.
Boeheim should surpass Knight by the time the year is over (five games before 2013) and from there, he should probably settle in to the No. 2 spot for a long, long time.
Speaking of the Gotham Classic, if you're looking for tickets to that Temple game, Big Apple Orange have you covered.
