Brandon Triche scored 21 points and Baye Moussa Keita added a career-best 15 points as the Syracuse Orange rolled in their home opener, 88-57 over the Wagner Seahawks.
Wagner made a game of it early on, with SU only breaking away right before halftime to take a 36-23 lead into the locker room. After that, however, it wasn't much of a contest.
James Southerland added 15 while Michael Carter-Williams dished out 11 assists to go with his six points.
Trevor Cooney nabbed six steals and the Orange nicked 14 total. They also notched ten blocks, spread evenly across the team.
DaJuan Coleman might have grabbed seven boards but he also coughed the ball up five times. Fellow frosh Jerami Grant scored five and grabbed four rebounds in 16 minutes.
It was a tough day beyond the arc for the Orange, who shot 5-19 from three-point range. Cooney was 2-5 himself. Syracuse shot 50% overall to Wagner's 33%.
The win was Syracuse's 23rd-straight in the Carrier Dome and 34th-straight at home against non-conference opponents (though "at home" is a subjective term when discussing SU basketball, as we know).
Up next for the Orange are the Princeton Tigers, who are coming off a close loss to Rutgers. The Tigers enter our cage on Wednesday.
