Orange Watch: ACC, Syracuse’s football future leads to… Miami | The Juice Online
"The opportunity to partner with ESPN to showcase the game on either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day provides us with a terrific way for fans to ring in the New Year in South Florida," ACC commissioner John Swofford said in announcing the deal this week. That’s exactly the sentiment shared by the Orange program and Orange Nation as a guideline to the first dozen years in the ACC – get to Miami.
Indiana, Louisville class of college hoops in power rankings - Luke Winn - SI.com
This could be the first season of the tempo-free era where an elite Orange team has a better defense than offense. They're not going to be able to hold opponents to 27.0 percent shooting every game, as they did in Sunday's wind-and-sun-affected suffocation of San Diego State on the USS Midway. But Syracuse's lineup seems more defense-first after losing Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph, and freshman Michael Carter-Williams should be able to fill the turnover-creation void left by Dion Waiters' early jump to the NBA.

Trio of big men bring defensive presence to Syracuse’s 2-3 zone early in season | The Daily Orange
"I think the biggest thing is that we have to be great defensively," Syracuse assistant coach Mike Hopkins said after practice on Tuesday. "We have to take charges. Fab (Melo) impacted the game last year by being great defensively and having a presence down low and letting them know that you’re not going to get easy layups, you’re not going to get easy shots."
TIGER KICKOFF: 10 things you didn't know about Syracuse - Columbia Missourian
The Syracuse Orange are not a familiar opponent for Missouri, residing in the Big East conference in both football and basketball. However, both teams share the same record (5-5), and Syracuse's football team shares a lot in common with Missouri's lastest opponent, Tennessee. Lots of points, very few stops. Similarities and differences aside, though, here are 10 things you might not know about Missouri's Senior Day opponent, Syracuse.
Syracuse at Mizzou: Beyond the box score preview - Rock M Nation
So it's come to this, then. In about 30 hours, Mizzou hosts Syracuse with bowl eligibility on the line. If Mizzou wins, the Tigers are likely spending Christmas or New Year's in an exotic location like Birmingham (the BBVA Compass Bowl on January 5), Memphis (the Liberty Bowl on December 31) or, for the fourth time in a decade, Shreveport (the Independence Bowl on December 28). Maybe, if the cards fall just right, you end up in Nashville (the Music City Bowl on December 31).

Mizzou-Syracuse: 5 things to watch and 1 prediction : Stltoday
Mizzou and Syracuse have met just twice before, both MU losses, one of them pivotal: The Orange crushed Mizzou 41-9 in Syracuse in 1986, just another runaway in a 3-8 Mizzou season. But they beat MU 24-13 in Columbia in 1987 when an MU victory may have meant a bowl berth for the Tigers, who finished 5-6 and instead remained in the early stages of what became a 13-year bowl drought. With a thorny task ahead next week at No. 9 Texas A&M, MU figures to need a win to be bowl-eligible for an eighth straight season.
If Syracuse Is Ever Going To Break Out From Their Road Woes, Saturday Is That Time - Inside the Loud House - A Syracuse Orange Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.
Missouri is a tough team at home, but they are absolutely beatable. I believe that people are selling the Orange short based solely off of the fact that a Big East team is playing an SEC team, and I think that although it will be a tough game for the Orange, it is a game that wouldn’t surprise me if it went in the away team’s favor. Road struggles or not, Syracuse has proven they can play with anybody and I look for that to be the case again tomorrow.
