Assuming every other team we play this season doesn't have a guy over 6'6", the Syracuse Orange have a good chance to absolutely dominate everyone they play this year. The Orange mixed and matched their lineup and went into the halftime locker room shooting 75% en route to a 99-63 victory over the Pace Setters in their first exhibition game of the 2012-2013 season.
James Southerland led Syracuse with 18 points, while Michael Carter-Williams and C.J. Fair each added 16.
Syracuse’s halftime numbers bordered on the absurd. The Orange made 21 out of 28 field goal attempts, four out of five shots from 3-point range and nine out of 11 free throw attempts.
The starting five consisted of Brandon Triche, MC Dubz, Fair, Rakeem Christmas and DaJuan Coleman. In other words, exactly who you expected.
That said, Boeheim spent the evening trying out all sorts of lineups. Big lineups with James Southerland at the top of the zone and small lineups with Jerami Grant and C.J. Fair on the bottom wings. Coleman and Christmas both saw time in the center spot and both had some dominating moments (which, to be fair, they should have).
Triche's Tricheface was already in midseason form and Coleman is in the lead to supplant Dion Waiters as the PostGame Tweeter General.
The Juice has some quick postgame thoughts and Jeremy Ryan will have more tomorrow but feel free to leave as specific thoughts or reactions in the comments below...
