It's amazing what one game can do. Just ask Syracuse Orange defensive end Iron Brandon Sharpe, who was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week following his huge performance in Syracuse's 14-13 win over the Pitt Panthers.
Sharpe had seven tackles, including four sacks and six tackles for loss, totalling 45 yards, to key Syracuse’s 14-13 win against Pittsburgh in the Orange’s BIG EAST opener. He led a defensive line that limited the Panthers to just 27 rushing yards and came up with a sack and two tackles for loss on Pittsburgh’s final possession. The four sacks and six tackles for loss are both good for second on Syracuse’s single-game chart.
Sharpe now has 17 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks on the year.
The game not only boosted Sharpe into the minds of all Syracuse fans but he also rocketed near the top of a couple national statistics. He knows tied for 12th in Sacks per Game and tied for 23rd in Tackles for Loss per Game.
Keep it up, sir.
