Well, I suppose it's not too much of a surprise that the Syracuse Orange, who were apparently supposed to host the 2013 Big East Conference Lacrosse Tournament, lost that right as part of their settlement to leave the conference early and join the ACC next year, per Donnie Webb.
Villanova will instead host the conference tourney for the second-straight season.
It seems to be a theme for Big East Tourneys as the women's tournament was supposed to be hosted by Loyola but the Greyhounds decided to leave for the Patriot League and now it will be hosted at Georgetown.
It's the kind of thing that, on paper, we should be annoyed by. But you know what? Fair enough. I get why the conference doesn't want to give us any financial incentives and would rather take care of one of its remaining members. Whatever.
Syracuse won the Big East Tournament last year with a win over upstart St. John's. This year they'll play for the chance to be among the four teams that make the tournament field for the final time. It may also be Notre Dame's final time to do as well, leaving the conference without it's two top squads.
