A year removed from opening the season as the No. 5 team in the nation according to the AP Poll, the Syracuse Orange will open as the No. 9 team in all the land.
Syracuse is also No. 9 in the Coaches Poll.
The Indiana Hoosiers are the Preseason No. 1 and received 43 first-place votes. The Louisville Cardinals recieved 20 votes and will enter the season at No. 2, following by the No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats who got two votes.
They're followed by Ohio State, Michigan, NC State, Kansas, Duke, Syracuse and Florida.
Other Big East teams in the rankings include No. 22 Notre Dame and No. 24 Cincinnati. Pitt, Marquette and Georgetown received votes.
I haven't seen the individual ballots yet so no way to know how far down Ron Morris has us this year. So far I've seen The Courier-Journal's C.L. Brown (6th), Colorado's Ryan Thorburn (10th), Clarion Ledger's Hugh Kellenberger (5th), Detroit News Rod Beard (10th), Albuquerque Journal's Geoff Grammer (8th) and Fayetteville Observer's Bret Stelow (6th) so there must be some ballot with Syracuse 21st or something like that to come. Shout'm out as you see them.
