Syracuse basketball (video): James Southerland ready to be an impact player - SB Nation New York
Syracuse basketball's senior forward speaks to SB Nation New York's Jared Smith at Big East media day about the upcoming season.

Cincinnati vs. Louisville: Time to start watching the Big East title race (No, really!) -
That said, the Orange quite easily have the most interesting offense in the conference right now -- in case you didn't notice, quarterback Ryan Nassib is on pace for 4,000 passing yards (if the 'Cuse can become bowl-eligible, anyway), and receivers Marcus Sales and Alec Lemon are each on pace for at least 800 receiving yards. If the Orange can win at USF and Cincy in the next two weeks, they might have a really good chance, but that is a pretty large "if."

Syracuse walk-on Russ DeRemer takes the 6-pound Frittata Challenge at Mother's Cupboard |
"We walked in and Albert Nassar announced to everybody in the restaurant that I was doing it,’’ DeRemer said, referring to his fellow SU walk-on. "Everyone was like ‘No way!’ One guy said he’d buy it if I ate it.’’

Bud and Brent Show: Can Syracuse football team keep momentum going? |
Was Syracuse's win over UConn a product of strong play by the Orange or poor play by the Huskies? What area of play has been the most impressive for SU recently? Is there any game on Syracuse's remaining schedule that isn't winnable? Why isn't there more buzz for this year's World Series?

The Morning Orange: Syracuse football's Ross Krautman has (10) yards to go before he sleeps |
"It felt good," he said on Friday after that rout of UConn, "to focus on the next kick, no matter how far it is out and no matter how many attempts I got." As it turns out, this makes for a fine day to salute Krautman because it is the 37th anniversary of the longest successful field goal ever kicked for or against SU.

Opportunity knocking for Syracuse offense vs South Florida? |
I was chatting with Joey Johnston of the Tampa Tribune on my radio show yesterday and he dropped this nugget on me. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 69% of their passes against the USF defense.

Preseason Edition - Andy Staples -
The Carrier Dome has its own charms -- despite its name, air conditioning isn't one, but hey, Syracuse in winter -- and the noise created by Syracuse fans during a big game is far louder than it should be considering the basketball setup doesn't use the entire building. They love their basketball in Syracuse, but they also love their barbecue. While I haven't had the pleasure of a personal visit, the legions of Syracuse grads in the sports media have unanimously sung the praises of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. No other barbecue joint that far north has earned such lavish praise, but great barbecue doesn't have to come from Memphis or Kansas City or Texas or the Carolinas. It just has to be cooked low and slow.

Syracuse basketball recruiting: Andrew Wiggins to reclassify - SB Nation New York
Currently, two teams are listed as favorites for Wiggins: the Kentucky Wildcats and Florida St. Seminoles. However, the Syracuse Orange, North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils have been listed in Wiggins' top 5 (via Adam Zagoria).

Syracuse University Athletics - BIG EAST Championship Up Next for SU

The women kick off the Championship at 11 a.m. with a 6K race. The men follow at 11:50 a.m. in its 8K championship. Follow along with the action with the BIG EAST Championship Central.

Everybody's from Syracuse and Yorktown, at least it seemed that way during '83 Orange championship |
Tim Nelson’s arrival at Syracuse University and the launch of a dynasty that began after the Orangemen won the 1983 national championship put the fertile recruiting ground of Yorktown High School on the map. Syracuse head coach John Desko said the Orangemen hit Yorktown and its vicinity hard after getting Nelson to join their program. Unfortunately for Syracuse, Desko said, so did a lot of other programs.

Syracuse University Athletics - #3 Orange Battles #4 UConn on Senior Day
The No. 3 ranked Syracuse field hockey team (15-1, 5-0 BIG EAST) concludes the regular season on Saturday when it hosts No. 4 Connecticut (16-1, 5-0 BIG EAST) with the BIG EAST regular season title on the line on Senior Day at J.S. Coyne Stadium at 1 p.m.

Why South Florida Is A Great Match Up For Syracuse - Inside the Loud House
I know football is more than a numbers game, and there is a reason why they play the game. The Bulls have had Syracuse’s number in the past, but I believe that if Syracuse takes care of business, they should be able to get out of Tampa with a victory.

The "I Otto Know This!" program is a multi-level financial literacy program that provides Syracuse University students with the skills and resources necessary to successfully manage their money.
