Syracuse Orange fans are extremely curious to see what redshirt freshman Trevor Cooney will be able to do after a season on the bench. They'll have to wait a little bit longer than expected with the news that Cooney will miss 7-10 days after undergoing a tonsillectomy upper body injury.
Cooney, a redshirt freshman, had his tonsils removed last Friday. Cooney said doctors recommended the procedure to address on-going issues with his tonsils.
"I've had problems because my tonsils were so big,'' Cooney said Tuesday. "I've had strep throat a lot. I had strep last season. I got it again this September.''
I like that Trevor had to make a point of saying the problem was that his tonsils were too big. Such a guy.
Donna Ditota reports that Cooney is recuperating on a diet of "smoothies, ice pops and cold noodles," otherwise known as The Scoop Sophomore Diet.
Cooney may miss SU's first exhibition game, a Nov. 1 tilt against Pace. He should be back for the Nov. 4 game against Bloomsburg.
