Courtesy of the Post-Standard, the annual media preseason Big East poll is out and the Syracuse Orange are the No. 2 team in all the Big East land.
The Louisville Cardinals were the unanimous pick to win the conference, receiving 15 points (15 voters). The less points you have, the better everyone thinks you'll be. Syracuse received 33 points, which means most voters put the Orange at No. 2, though a few put them slightly lower.
Here's the full list:
1. Louisville 15
2. Syracuse 33
3. Notre Dame 49
4. Cincinnati 63
5. Pittsburgh 78
6. Georgetown 97
7. Marquette 109
8. South Florida 123
9. Connecticut 159
10. St. John's 163
11. Rutgers 167
12. Villanova 171
13. Providence 176
14. Seton Hall 188
15. DePaul 209
Interesting to see UConn still at No. 9. Without Calhoun, without so many players and without any fanfare, I don't know what that says about all the schools rated lower than them. Oh, and...Hi DePaul!
(Before you ask, Temple is not joining the conference for non-football sports until next year).
The Votes for the All-Big East teams will be announced later today.
