Syracuse No. 2 In Both AP, Coaches Polls

The Syracuse Orange went 2-0 this past week, helping them to up their spot in the AP Poll and move up two spots in the Coaches Poll.

In the AP, the Orange jumped one spot to No. 2 behind the Kentucky Wildcats. The Orange received two first-place votes, thanks to Idaho Statesmen writer Nick Jezierny, who stuck to their guns from last week and Everett Daily Herald writer Scott Johnson, who changed his mind this week. Paul Klee, who had SU No. 1 last week, dropped them to No. 2 in his poll. I see how it is, Paul.

Most of the voters had SU at No. 2 while twelve had the Orange at No. 3.

Over in the Coaches Poll, the Orange jumped from No. 4 to No. 2, thanks in large part to Missouri's loss earlier in the week and the eye-opening conclusion that one-loss SU deserved it over three-loss Ohio State. Kentucky is the unanimous No. 1.

Syracuse's RPI is No. 1 in the nation, followed by Duke, Baylor, Michigan State and Kentucky. They have a SOS of 4. They are 1-0 against RPI Top 10 teams, 2-0 against RPI Top 20 teams and 4-0 against RPI Top 30 teams.

Syracuse is No. 3 in the Sagarin Rankings behind Ohio State and Kentucky.

The Orange are No. 1 in the Colley Matrix, ahead of Kentucky, Duke, Baylor and Ohio St.

SU is No. 3 in the Massey Ratings, behind Kentucky and ahead of Ohio State.

In the world of bracketology, SB Nation has SU as a No. 1 seed in the East facing Long Island in the first round while LLunardi has the Orange in the East as the No. 1 overall seed.
