Big East Football Power Rankings: Week One - The UConn Blog
I love the opening ballot of a ranking system because it's all speculation and the best chance we'll get all year to see everyone's biases and levels of homerism. Sure, everyone can put aside their biases and vote West Virginia first (well, everyone except South Florida blog Voodoo Five who voted for..... South Florida).

Analysis of the Big East's top 25 nonconference games -- college basketball - ESPN
8. Florida at Syracuse, Dec. 2, 6:30 p.m., ESPN (Big East/SEC Challenge): The Gators are one of the top three teams in the SEC. Syracuse is one of the top three in the Big East. This is a big-time game in early December that will certainly test Florida's young frontcourt. The guard play in this game, especially with the return of Rutgers transfer/current Gator Mike Rosario to the Big East, should be stellar.

Big East-ACC challenge. Syracuse and Wake Forest play the first of six games between Big East and ACC teams. We all know how important these games are, what with my ongoing catfight with HD. OK, just kidding on that one. But still, a rivalry has grown between Big East and ACC fans about which league is better. The Orange, a bowl team a year ago, have got to beat a Wake team coming off a 3-9 season to keep their momentum going. The big question is how the much younger and slightly smaller defense will do against a pretty good running team.

Coaching 'em up: Syracuse - Big East Blog - ESPN
Defensive coordinator Scott Shafer likes Spruill in the middle because his speed and athleticism allow him to be effective sideline to sideline. Davis has turned heads since he entered Syracuse in the spring, running with the first team almost immediately. Defensive end Chandler Jones gave this assessment of Davis: "He’s doing exactly what I expected him to do. He’s making a lot of plays for us."

Big East Forecast: New-look Mountaineers reclaim the peak for West Virginia - Dr. Saturday
After miraculously rocketing into the top ten nationally in total defense, Syracuse will fall out of the top 40 by the same measure. Altogether, the Orange lose seven of their top dozen tacklers from the surge, including both starting defensive tackles, both cornerbacks and the top two linebackers, at a moment when the conference is beginning to pick up the pace offensively.

Floyd Little talks about the hiring of Doug Marrone during a news conference in July 2011 announcing Little as Syracuse University's Special Assistant to the Athletics Director.
