We're counting down every SU football player from Chandler Jones (#99) to Phil Thomas (#1). Keep track of every player profile right here.

Next up on your Orange-Man Orientation, #6, Terrel Hunt.

Position: Quarterback

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 203

Hometown: Rosedale, NY

High School: Christ the King

2010 Stats: He's a freshman, so, none.

2011 Projections: Hunt won't see any playing time in 2011 and he's a strong candidate to be redshirted. That's not an indictment of Terrel. It has more to do with the fact that there are three very capable QBs ahead of him on the depth chart and he's a freshman working out the many kinks that come with such a condition.

How'd He Get Here?: Hunt was, as the NY Post put it, a touchdown waiting to happen in high school. As a junior, the dual-threat QB completed 86 of 148 passes for 1,187 yards and 12 touchdowns in the air and carried the ball 105 times for 533 yards and three scores. As a senior, Hunt threw for 1,289 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 1,218 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He apparently had interest from Boston College, UConn, Rutgers and Temple but SU was the first to offer. His mother, Katrina Hunt, had pushed for Terrel to attend Syracuse before she passed from ovarian cancer last January. He was more than happy to grant her that wish.

Scouts/Rivals Said:.Scout has Terrel originally had him down as a two-star QB but upped him to three stars eventually while Rivals gave him a three-star rating

Money Quote: "I finally got to go where I wanted to go," Terrel said, "especially where my mom wanted me to go."

Links of Wonder: Terrel Hunt was the "other" quarterback in our 2011 recruiting class until Ashton Broyld failed to qualify academically. He's got something to prove.

Doug Marrone Thinks: "Terrel Hunt’s athletic ability speaks for itself. He is a starting guard on a great basketball team down in New York City. He brings a lot to the table. He has great speed and leaping ability. He is also a tough guy and we like that."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: There is one L in his first name. Stop calling him Terrell.
