Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man - #16 James Jarrett

We are less than two weeks away from the opener against Wake, so make sure you're on your game.  Catch up with all of our wonderful Orangemen here.

Coach Marrone recently moved a bunch of walk-on quarterbacks to other positions in order to make room for the new batch of them who've recently joined the team.  James Jarrett is one of these players, and has exchanged his green jersey for a red one this summer.

Position:  Strong Safety

Year:  Junior (should be Sophomore in 'football years')

Height:  6'2"

Weight:  202

Hometown:  Clinton, NY

High School:  Clinton

2010 Stats:  N/A

2011 Projections:  No offense to James, but I think most of us would like to see #SHAMARKO get the lion's share of the snaps at strong safety this year.

How'd He Get Here?:  Jarrett's a Newhouse kid, and was going to come to SU no matter what.  When the new staff came in, Jarrett contacted them about possibly walking on...and that's when the magic happened.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?:  Neither said very much.

Money Quote:

<"He's probably the smartest guy I've ever met with Xs and Os," Jarrett said. "He commands a lot of respect. He's instilled a lot of confidence in this team."

-Jarrett on Coach Marrone.

'Links of Wonder:  Here's a really nice article about Jarrett and his SU career from the Utica Observer-Dispatch.

What Does Doug Marrone Think?:

"He’s extremely hard-working.  He’s excellent in the room. He helps us with the other quarterbacks. He helps us on the field."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest:  James Jarrett's kind of a big deal in Clinton.  People know him.  He owns 8 Clinton HS records from his quarterbacking days, lettered in basketball, lacrosse and track as well as football, and is a member of the National Honors Society.

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya:  Someone get this man a fancy highlight video!  Or at least a dude with the same name doing something funny on YouTube... (if you guys find anything send it over to Sean).
