So you know how Syracuse football plays Tulane this year? And how you're going to spend that entire week learning how to hate the Green Wave? Well now you don't have to just let that hate die, you can keep it in your back pocket and bring it back out on December 22nd when the Tulane Green Wave basketball team comes to the Carrier Dome to take on the Syracuse Orange basketball squad.
Tulane was 13-17 a season ago. Ed Conroy is in his second year as head coach with the Green Wave. Tulane features junior guard Kendall Timmons, who averaged a squad-best 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season.
It's only the second time the two programs have played one another. The Orange defeated the Green Wave 73-60.
That doesn't mean we don't have a little bit of history with Tulane. Orange Tip-Off readers might remember Vote Prime's article on Roy Danforth, Syracuse basketball's 2nd-best coach of all time. He led the Orangemen to the 1975 Final Four and hired some fresh-faced kid named Jim Boeheim as an assistant before leaving over an interal dispute to become the head coach at Tulane. When he left, Boeheim became head coach and the rest was history. So I suppose we should probably thank Tulane in a weird way (not that we dislike Roy).
FYI, Tulane lost to Georgetown last year, 69-53. So we should probably try to do a little better than that.
