It's been a while since someone's committed to play football for Syracuse University in the year 2012. Virginia linebacker Darius Parsons remedied that situation today when he told VirginiaPreps.com that he's heading north next year.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker from Woodbridge, VA got the two-star treatment from Rivals as well as Scout.

While Syracuse was the first, and only, school to offer, Parsons apparently received interest from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Penn State, Michigan State, Tennessee, Boston College and Rutgers.

As a junior, Parson had 121 tackles, three sacks and one interception while also handling running back duties for the Woodbridge Vikings.

According to his Twitterfeed, football is his life, is what he does and what he was born to do...so that works out great.

Parson is the first Virginia recruit of the 2012 class and follows Jaston George, Marquis Spruill and Adrian Flemming as recent VA pick-ups as the Orange continue to gain a foothold in the state.
