Syracuse RB Prince-Tyson Gulley Update: No News Is Hopefully Good News

Update: Orange Fizz spoke to PTG, who has left the hospital and expects to be back soon...

"I’m out of the hospital. Yeah, I’ll be back. I’m good. Just taking it slow now."

Original: First of all, I think it goes without saying that FanPost Fridays is cancelled. I leave you guys alone for one day and you ONE OF OUR FOOTBALL PLAYERS GET STABBED??? This is why we can't have nice things.

I joke but this is pretty serious stuff. Thankfully, the injuries appear to be non life-threatening and folks like Alec Lemon can stop tweeting from a place of concern and go back to tweeting pics from the club. Ah, a sense of normalcy returns.

You know what I keep thinking about? The phone call that Doug Marrone got around 3am to let him know of his players was in the hospital with stab wounds. Ugh. Anyway, Marrone put out a statement that's about the most you're going to get out of him and SU for a while:

"We are aware of the incident in which Prince-Tyson Gulley was injured last night. He is recovering from the injuries and will be under the care of our medical staff. We will continue to work with the proper authorities as we handle the matter internally."

If you're hoping for specifics on PTG's condition, good luck. Between the fact that he's 19, a Syracuse University student and a member of the SU Football team, you can be sure this one's staying internal until absolutely necessary.

One area you can help with is the investigation into the lunatic who stabbed our 2nd-string RB.

The suspect, a black male of unknown age about 6-feet-tall, is not believed to be an SU student. He was last seen wearing a white V-neck shirt, shorts, a green baseball style hat and is described as having short hair in dreadlocks and a pierced bottom lip, according to the DPS email.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident call 315-442-5222.

As for where this leaves us on the football field, we'll deal with that when we have to. In the meantime, it's just good to know PTG is alive, somewhat-well and not in more danger.

That said, can we make a rule that any Syracuse running backs from Akron are to be hermetically-sealed and stowed away during the off-season?

Finally, if anyone could succinctly sum up what the events of Friday mean to the SU Football team, it's Dyshawn Davis...
