Big East position rankings: Special teams - Big East Blog - ESPN
4. Syracuse. The Orange have one of the best kickers in the league in Ross Krautman, who missed just one of his 19 field goal attempts last season. They do lose their top punt returner in Mike Holmes, along with punter Rob Long so there are questions at some of the most important spots on special teams. But Krautman, and the return of Dorian Graham and Prince-Tyson Gulley returning kicks puts this unit just ahead of the Bearcats.

Basketball Prospectus | D-I's Top 100 Players
58. Kris Joseph, Syracuse (Sr., SF) - It's rare that you see a team with five players as similarly effective, per-possession, on offense as the 2011 Orange were with Joseph, Scoop Jardine, Dion Waiters, Brandon Triche, and C.J. Fair. The worst of the five was probably freshman Fair (110 offensive rating, 18 percent of possessions) and the best was probably Joseph (109 offensive rating, 23 percent of possessions). I'm ranking Joseph this much higher than those four primarily because only he and Fair separated themselves on defense and on the boards, and Fair's offense just doesn't stand up.

I am going to look at each coach and the likelihood he could be snatched away from the Big East, from highest probability to lowest. 7. Doug Marrone, Syracuse. The Orange had a wonderful rebound season in 2011, but Marrone was able to stay under the radar for the most part. He is coaching at his school, and, in short, seems to love where he is.

This week’s tournament will bring many of Syracuse’s targets to one gym. The Albany City Rocks feature a pair of players with whom Syracuse fans are already plenty familiar – DaJuan Coleman and Ricardo Ledo. Their pool includes several teams with players who are already committed to Big East schools, if they’re not still being pursued by them, so there may be a glimpse of what is to come in the college ranks.

Rush The Court " Blog Archive " RTC Summer Updates: Big East Conference
Syracuse – It’s hard not to like this Syracuse team as we head into the new season. The Orange have everyone back except Rick Jackson, but fear not, Syracuse fans, as five-star recruit and the #1 center in the class of 2011 (per Scout) Rakeem Christmas makes his way to upstate New York. Christmas leads a strong recruiting class that also includes sharpshooter Trevor Cooney and scorer Michael Carter-Williams.
