We keep it rolling today with walk-on Femi Aliyu. For profiles of the rest of our players, click here.
Player: Femi Aliyu
Number: #50
Position: Linebacker
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 215
Hometown: Baldwin, NY
High School: Baldwin
2010 Stats: Femi didn't get into any games as a freshman last season.
2011 Projections: Don't expect Femi to see much time on defense. Special Teams is a distinct possibility though.
How'd He Get Here?: Like many of our walk-ons, Femi is a legacy player. His mother, Olubukunola Phillips Aliyu (awesome), is a '79 SU grad.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Neither had recruiting profiles set up for Femi.
Money Quote:
"Like mike tyson and robin givens, the strongest man can be brought down by an evil woman....(but i think u sweeter than sweet)"
-Sage advice from Femi's Twitter feed.
Links of Wonder: Here's Femi's (or alter-ego Yung Yantaz's) Twitter profile. It's...interesting.
What Does Doug Marrone Think?: Doug's probably just happy about how Femi helps out the team's academics. Femi is a member of the National Honors Society and is currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Femi kept quite busy during high school. Besides being a great student, as noted above, he lettered in football (where he never missed a game in four years), basketball and lacrosse. I wonder how he is at face-offs.
Let Me Get a Good Look At You: I can't find anything worth posting, so if anyone comes across any sweet Femi Aliyu highlight tapes or interviews, send them on over.
Update: Here's some highlights, posted under Femi's fullname, Hassan Femi. Thanks to Bukun Phillips Aliyu, who I'm going to guess is related.
