We're counting down every SU football player, one a day, from Chandler Jones (#99) to Phil Thomas (#1). Keep track of every player profile right here.

Next up on your Orange-Man Orientation, #51 Eric Crume.

Position: Nose tackle

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 330 pounds

Hometown: Detroit, MI

High School: Detroit Central

2010 Stats: He's a freshman, so, none.

2011 Projections: Originally noted as weighing 315, SU is now listing him at 330. If it' true that he's around that weight, it makes you wonder if he's going to be a serious challenger for folks like Jay Bromley (269), Cory Boatman (274) and Ollie Haney (279) just on principle. On a defensive line that lacks size, Crume brings SIZE.

How'd He Get Here?: After a career that included 191 tackles, 33 sacks, one interception and 13 forced fumbles, Crume had some interest from a few Big Ten schools but went with Syracuse, where he liked "the direction of the program." Credit Tyrone Wheatley with getting the fellow Michigan man to head East.

Scouts/Rivals Said: Scout went two-star while Rivals did the same.

Money Quote: "The coaches made me feel really welcome. I think they can give me the tools to be successful on and off the field...There’s a rare chance that anyone’s gonna make it pro in any sport. You gotta get your degree in order to be successful in life.” - via the Fizz

Links of Wonder: Here's the story on Crume's commitment to Syracuse.

Doug Marrone Thinks: Nothing specific but Crume did say "Coach Marrone wished me a happy birthday," so you know he cares.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Eric's middle name is Armani. Hold on to that for future nickname discussions.

Let Us Get A Good Look Atchya: First up, some highlights set to some truly-awful music. That's followed by a Day in the Life of Eric in high school.
