Scoop Jardine Headed To 2011 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Tryouts

Last year, Scoop Jardine tried out for the USA Men's Select Team, which would eventually train against 2010 USA Basketball Men's National Team. He fell short in the final cut (Thanks, Jay Wright).

Scoop doesn't want to meet the same fate this time when he attends the 2011 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games team training camp.

The training camp, which will be held July 29 to Aug. 7 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., will be used to select the 12-member team that will represent the USA at the 2011 World University Games, to be help Aug. 13 to 23 in Shenzhen, China.

Scoop Jardine loose in China, tweeting every crazy thing that he sees and eats? YES, PLEASE.

Scoop does have a bit of an ace in the hole. The USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee is chaired by some guy named Jim Boeheim. Of course, that might also work against Scoop considering what Boeheim is looking for:

"As always, the committee will be looking for not only the most talented players, but also players that will work well as a team."

Does that include late in the game when the team is down by two? Cause, um...

They'll announce finalists on July 31 and the team will head to China August 8th. Other Big East players invited include Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis, Cincy's Yancy Gates, Pitt's Ashton Gibbs, West Virginia's Aaric Murray, and UConn's Alex Oriakhi.
