Stock Up On Kevlar: West Virginia Will Sell Beer At Football Games

via <a href=""></a>

If Dana Holgorsen is gonna be slamming six-packs on the sidelines every game, you might as well let everyone else in Mountaineer Field drink as well.

The West Virginia University Board of Governors approved a policy today that will allow for beer sales at home football and basketball games. Of course, this comes with a whole lot of stipulations. Some of them include...

  • Last call will be midway through third quarter
  • ID required for each purchase, regardless of age
  • Two beer maximum per purchase
  • No beer vendors in WVU student section
  • I don't understand why the university can't just trust the students to handle themselves in a mature manner and...oh right.

Beer sales have been going on in the Carrier Dome for years and I don't know of too many negative incidents that have made headlines because of it. And of course, beer sales are a great source of revenue, especially when you're charging $8 for flat Bud Light. West Virginia expected a minimum of $500,000 in extra revenue.

Thankfully, the Orange host the Mountaineers this year. We get to see other Big East fans be the guinea pigs for this social experiment.
