MacPherson. McPherson. McNabb. Syracuse has a decent history of guys whose surname begins with Mc/Mac. Let's hope RB DeVante McFarlane keeps that going when he plays football for the Orange in 2012.
"l committed to Syracuse this morning," McFarlane told ESPN.com recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg. "I just like what they brought to the table and I felt very comfortable there. It's the place I need to be and they showed me the most love. I really liked them the most."
McFarlane comes from Dix Hills in Long Island where he chose the Orange over offers from Buffalo, Kent St. and Vandy. He also apparently had interest from UConn, Rutgers and Penn State. Scout considers him a three-star player while Rivals does as well.
As a junior, McFarlane saw time at quarterback, wide receiver, running back, outside linebacker, safety, and also returned kickoffs and punts. He scored ten touchdowns and accrued over 1,000 all-purpose yards.
