As we continue to wade through the wonderful lineman section of this series, today we take a look at another incoming freshman- Ryan Sloan.  To catch up on all of the past installments, here's a handy link.

Player: Ryan Sloan

Number: #63

Position: Defensive Line

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 295

Hometown: Bellport, NY

High School: Bellport

2010 Stats: Down on Long Island, he had a very nice senior year, with 75 tackles (32 solo), 14 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and even an interception.

2011 Projections: I don't expect him to get any major run next year as a true freshman, but you never know.  We're shallow at the position, and it happened last year with Jay Bromley.

How'd He Get Here: SU used the Long Island connection with assistant coach John Anselmo, and Sloan really connected with him and signed pretty soon thereafter.  We were one of the first teams to give Sloan attention.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say:  Scout gave Sloan a 3-star rating, and ranks him sixtieth nationally as an offensive lineman. Rivals is slightly less impressed, giving him a 2-star rating.

Money Quote: When the Anselmo comes knocking, you open.

"I think it’s a good school and they’ve been showing the most interest so far. My cousin played for one of their coaches when he was at Nassau [Anselmo] and he was telling me good things about him. He told me he’s a good coach and a good person to talk to."

Links of Wonder: Here's an awesome story by MSGVarsity, on the things that Sloan's overcome to make it this far.

What Does Marrone Think?:  Marrone doesn't talk about measly freshman...we know this.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: As that article above talks about, after an unfortunate accident at his third birthday, Ryan's now blind in his right eye, making his rise to division one football all the more amazing.  Also, SU Athletics has his name spelled wrong.
