Tottenville receiver Cornelius gives verbal agreement to play for Syracuse University -
"Syracuse has been looking at me since they first saw a highlight film (of me) and they've been showing me the most interest and love," said the 17-year-old Cornelius, who's not certain when he'll officially sign his national letter of intent. "They told me straight up they're taking one wide receiver (from this recruiting class) and it's going to be me. That was important to me.

Athlete Devante McFarlane (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) said he plans to make his college commitment sometime in July. He has offers from Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Kent State and Buffalo, but expects to have more schools from which to choose.
