The No. 1 Syracuse Orange lacrosse team wraps up the regular season, and the likely No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, when they take on St. John's (5-9) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Carrier Dome.
It's Senior Day, as well, which means the Orange faithful will be watching players such as Jeremy Thompson, Josh Amidon, Joel White, John Galloway, Jovan Miller, Stephen Keogh and John Lade in the Dome for the final time in the regular season. When you put it like that, it's quite a class. And it becomes much more obvious why they have the most wins of any class in SU lacrosse history.
Tim Desko isn't a senior, so you will get the chance to see him play in the Dome again. Just not this Saturday. Desko will sit out his sixth-straight game with a knee injury.
"Right now it’s just Tim Desko going through the healing process," John Desko said Wednesday. "We hope to get him off the antibiotics here very soon and then next week look at what he can do physically as far as getting back on the field and getting in tune. I don’t have an exact timeline. Everybody’s different with those types of things."
Even if he was 75%, it would still probably make sense to sit Desko. Tommy Palasek has been filling in just fine for him, and the Orange have enough depth to finish the season without Tim.
