Dana Holgorsen: Coach-In-Waiting Not Waiting On Blackjack Dealer To Deal

Pitt and West Virginia always have to try and one-up one another, it seems.

Pitt hires a new coach, West Virginia hires a coach-in-waiting.

Then, Pitt's new coach does something crazy and gets himself canned before the job is his.

West Virginia coach-in-waiting Dana Holgersen...you're up!

Multiple sources told the Charleston Daily Mail Holgorsen was removed from Mardi Gras Casino & Resort after 3 a.m. May 18.  Holgorsen had been at a Mountaineer Athletic Club function earlier in the day in Logan before spending the evening at the casino with other university representatives.

Holgorsen's behavior allegedly reached a point that necessitated involvement from on-site security, sources said.  Holgorsen was escorted out of the casino with the episode caught on surveillance.  University representatives who were with Holgorsen were said to have then intervened. No arrest was made.

Apparently, the whole thing was captured on video, as well. If only...

You might think this incident is nothing and it's going to blow over, especially given how much the Mountaineers have invested in him. Well, it's made enough of a stink to force the cancellation of an AD get-together today at the Big East spring meeting.

Wednesday morning’s Big East athletic directors meeting at the league’s spring meetings was cancelled because some of the league’s ADs, including West Virginia’s Oliver Luck, had to return back to their schools earlier than expected.

Luck returned to Morgantown, WVa., to deal with an incident at a casino involving Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia’s new offensive coordinator and head coach in waiting.

The ADs were supposed to discuss issues such as "the league’s bowl payout situation, scheduling, television and BCS matters." Not that any of that stuff is important.
