Indianapolis Colts Pick Delone Carter In NFL Draft's 4th Round

Delone Carter became the first Syracuse Orange to hear his named called during the 2011 NFL Draft when the Indianapolis Colts selected him with the 22nd pick of the 4th round.

The Twitter reaction was instantaneous.

Colts Owner Jim Irsay - OUR 4TH RD. SELECTION---DELONE CARTER, RB FROM SYRACUSE! WELCOME, DELONE.

Creepy Matthew Elder - 119. IND-RB Delone Carter #11 RB, #142 BB Speedy scat back who has better than average size. Good hips and explodes through the holes. (YIKES!)

Cory Wilks - Man wtf??? Who is dis lame ass n****??? "@: Rd. 4: #22 Colts select Delone Carter, RB-Syracuse " (Oh Corey, pray you never meet Delone alone during a snowstorm...)

Fantasy Guru - That Delone Carter pick by the Colts could be the end of Joe Addai's tenure. Carter and Don Brown could work in tandem.

Carter was selected before UConn's Jordan Todman, which is always nice. Congrats to Delone, who entered the season with a whole ton of issues but proved himself on and off the field.

Head on over to Stampede Blue to see what Colts fans think (and educate them if need be, they seem mostly happy with him so far). Keep an eye on the 2011 NFL Draft to see which Syracuse player will be drafted next.

Update: Carter spoke to Nolan and told him, "it’s an honor to go there...There’s a lot of Syracuse alums there … Dwight Freeney … I just feel honored and blessed.” He also mentions that he was surprised by the pick since the Colts didn't really talk to him much.
