Classics. You know Syracuse Lacrosse loves them. But did you know that Syracuse Basketball recruits love them too?
If you have a basketball tournament in your backyard and you slap the word Classic on the name, at least one Syracuse recruit will show up.
The 2011 Jordan Brand Classic was this past weekend and Rakeem Christmas as well as Michael Carter-Williams participated.
The two future SU teammates led the East Team to a 113-109 victory against the West Team. Christmas started the game and had 12 points, seven rebounds and one block in 24 minutes of work. Carter-Williams came off the bench to contribute one point, five assists and six rebounds while logging 16 minutes.
It's nice to see Christmas break out in one of these games. He'd seem to have been relegated to 2-4 point status. As for MWC, the scoring might be low but check out the intangible stats in 16 minutes of work. Considering how much more important he may have gotten in the past week, it's a good sign.
Don't cry for Trevor Cooney, Argentina. The final member of our trio spent his weekend at the Capital Classic and put up some solid numbers as well.
Cooney started the game and finished with 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal. He played 21 minutes for the U.S. All-Stars. He was one of eight players in double figures on his squad.

And look for Trev (#30) making a nice pass from the wing here:
